UPDATE FRIDAY 10/21

– Girlfriend Golden through fresh peaches is the Randall for the weekend at River City.

– Orlison has tapped a firkin of double dry-hopped Shin Splints IPA.

 

UPDATE THURSDAY 10/20

– Nectar Wine and Beer hosts a fresh-hop tasting today from 6 to 8, with flights of six selections for $10.

 

UPDATES WEDNESDAY 10/19

– Hopped Up today releases a sessionable Palouse IPA (5.2 percent alcohol by volume, 45 International Bitterness Units) brewed with locally produced Palouse Pint English pale and crystal/biscuit malts along with Ahtanum and Cascade hops; Palouse Pint's Joel Williamson will be on hand starting at 6:30 with malt samples.

– Slate Creek is tapping its annual Backyard Harvest Rye IPA fresh-hop beer, with hops contributed by customers, for tonight's Slate @ 8:00, with $3 pints starting at 8 p.m. along with live music by Mark Holt and food from Las Brasas Mexican Grill.

– Selkirk Abbey on Friday launches a limited release of barrel-aged 8˚ Belgian dubbel on draft in the taproom and in 22-ounce bottles.

– Beers from Big Barn, Iron Goat, No-Li, Payette, Twelve String and Waddell's will pour for the Fall Festival at JJ's Tap and Smokehouse on Friday and Saturday from 4 to 10, along with live music and food specials in the outdoor tent. 

 

UPDATE TUESDAY 10/18

– The weekly Wednesday small-batch release at Daft Badger is an imperial IPA (8.3 percent alcohol by volume, 65 International Bitterness Units).

 

A look at the upcoming week in local craft beer:

MONDAY

– Browne's Addition is the featured neighborhood for this month's LocALE Mondays at No-Li; get a free souvenir pint glass with a purchase of Crony brown ale between 5 and 8 p.m.

– Electric Slide Imperial IPA is beer of the week at Twelve String, with $1 off pints and growler fills.

TUESDAY

– Orlison's community pint night from 4 to 9 benefits Friends of the Centennial Trail, which will receive $1 from each pint sold; a special ice cream will be served by Annie's Artisan Creamery using the brewery's coffee-infused Roast House Stout.

– No-Li's weekly Flights & Bites menu includes a baked Granny Smith apple florette and Slacker caramel sauce paired with Rise & Grind coffee milk stout, kielbasa, apples and beer caramelized onions with Crony brown ale and a bacon cheddar ranch hush puppy with Big Juicy IPA. Get all three for $15 after 5 p.m. 

WEDNESDAY

– A free Oskar Blues tasting begins at 3:30 at Pilgrim's, with the standard IPA, Passion Fruit Pinner session IPA, Old Chub Scotch ale and Ten Fidy imperial stout.

– The Palouse-Two Rivers chapter of Beer Choir holds its inaugural event from 7 to 8 p.m. at Rants & Raves in Moscow.

THURSDAY

– Orlison launches a monthly Beers With Blaine series from 5 to 6 with a Beer 101 brewing process presentation by head brewer Blaine Serrin. 

– A Beer Valley pint night from 7 to 10 at Beerocracy features fresh hop Leafer Madness imperial IPA and Black Flag imperial stout, plus Owyhee Amber and Green Cross IPA.  

FRIDAY

– V Twin Brewing has its grand opening from 2 to 10 p.m. at 2302 N. Argonne.

– After being postponed last weekend because of high winds, The Lantern Tap House's Freshtival runs from 4 to 10 p.m. in the outdoor tent, featuring 14 fresh-hop beers from Oregon and southern Idaho. Admission is $10, which includes a tasting glass and five drink tokens (6-ounce pour for two tokens, full pint for five); extra tokens are $1 each.

– The Coeur d'Alene Growler Guys welcomes Beer Valley for a tasting from 4 to 7 featuring fresh hop Leafer Madness imperial IPA, Dark Dog porter and Black Flag imperial stout.

– Elysian's Great Pumpkin Beer Festival comes to the Steel Barrel from 5 to 11 with four rare releases – the cinnamon-forward Blight, sessionable Steamy Hollow (a California common-style lager), big Ben's Old Fashioned and bigger Old Gourdfather barleywine – plus the more familiar Night Owl, imperial Great Pumpkin, Dark O' the Moon stout and coffee-spiked Punkuccino. PItchers fashioned from actual pumpkins will be available.

SATURDAY

– The Steel Barrel celebrates Oktoberfest from 1 to 10 p.m. with big steins of beer, bratwurst, German music, a costume contest and drinking games. 

– The Lantern Tap House's Freshtival, today featuring 14 fresh-hop beers from Washington and North Idaho, continues from 2 to 10 in the outdoor tent.

– Northern Quest's Oktoberquest runs from 3 to 9 with $1 tastes of more than a dozen seasonal beers from regional breweries and beyond (including Germany's Spaten, Hofbrau and Bitburger) plus German food, wine and spirits, costume contests and more, with a grand prize drawing for a trip to Germany. 

– Cheney's New Boundary Brewing also has an Oktoberfest starting at 6 p.m., featuring the release of a fresh-hop beer made with hops contributed by the community plus prizes, live music, German sausages and barbecue.

– The fourth annual Craft Beer and Cookie Fest from 4 to 7 at the Girl Scouts program center, 1404 N. Ash, will pair beers from Badass, Black Label, English Setter, Iron Goat, New Boundary, River City, Waddell’s, Alaskan and Lagunitas with assorted Girl Scout cookies. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door, which includes three beer and cookie samples plus a sausage sandwich (limited VIP tickets with five pours and a souvenir glass are $25/advance, $30/door). 

SUNDAY

– The Steel Barrel wraps up its Pumpkin Fest weekend from 1 to 10 with pumpkin beers from Elysian and Uinta plus other seasonals, a rotating Randall and fall-themed cocktails.
