Fight to the fresh

UPDATE: The Freshtival has been postponed until next weekend, Oct. 21-22, because of Friday's forecast for wind gusts up to 50 mph. That could create unsafe conditions in the outside tent, Lantern owner Mike Dolmage says.

 

Get ready for a fresh-hop smackdown this weekend at The Lantern Tap House.

The South Perry pub’s fourth annual Freshtival on Friday and Saturday features 14 fresh hop beers on tap each day in the outside tent – from the Southern Region (Oregon/southern Idaho)  on Friday, and the Northern Region (Washington/North Idaho) on Saturday.

Customers will vote for their favorites, with the winners announced at 9 each night. The tent is open Friday from 4 to 10, and Saturday from 2 to 10.

The initial tasting package costs $10, which includes a commemorative glass (good for both days) and five drink tokens; you get a 2-ounce pour for two tokens, or a full pint for five. Extra tokens are $1 each.

There will be live music inside the Lantern each night at 9, with Lucas Brown on Friday and Troubadour on Saturday.
