UPDATE WEDNESDAY 1/27

– Pints is doing a Deschutes barrel-aged blowout on Saturday featuring a 2013-2015 vertical of The Abyss imperial stout – plus the new rye and cognac versions – as well as the 2015 Black Butte XVII imperial porter, Super Jubel and The Stoic Belgian-style quad, 2014 Mirror Mirror barleywine and a pair of non-barrel beers: Hop Henge experimental IPA and the eHop amber with sage and thyme. Taster-sized pours will be available so you can try several in a sitting.  

 

UPDATES TUESDAY 1/26

– Daft Badger's weekly Wednesday small-batch release will be a double IPA (8.8 percent alcohol by volume, 91 International Bitterness Units) hopped with Centennial and Willamette.

– The Randall special at English Setter on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. will be the Break Off the Line vanilla bourbon stout over peppermint candy. 

    

A look at the upcoming week in local craft beer:

TUESDAY

– San Diego's Green Flash and Alpine breweries will be featured in a free, special Tuesday tasting starting at 3:30 p.m. at Pilgrim's in Coeur d'Alene. Look for five IPAs – Alpine's Hoppy Birthday session and Duet, and Green Flash's Jibe session, Hand Shake and West Coast Double – along with the latter's Double Stout. 

– No-Li will serve a fresh orange-vanilla version of its similarly flavored Slacker for Brewsday Tuesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

WEDNESDAY

– The #SpoBU Twitter meetup group, now meeting the last Wednesday of each month instead of weekly, gathers from 4 to 6 p.m. at River City. 

– Boise's Edge Brewing introduces itself in North Idaho with a series of events including a tap takeover at Capone's in Coeur d'Alene on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m., a tap night Thursday from 6 to 9 at Timber Gastro Pub in Post Falls and tastings on Friday in Coeur d'Alene starting at 10 a.m. at Costco, and from 4 to 7 at Growler Guys.

– Twelve String is the special guest for a fundraiser for the Sandpoint Cutthroat Lacrosse Team on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Idaho Pour Authority.  

– A Royal Humpy English-style pale (named after the fishing fly) will be tapped for this Wednesday's Slate @ 8:00 at Slate Creek.

THURSDAY

– Orlison puts its production crew on public display for a brewer's night Thursday from 5 to 9 at the downtown Spokane tasting room.

– A half-dozen beers from Rogue, including the Eastern Washington debuts of Morimoto Imperial Pilsner and Fresh Roast brown, will pour in a tap takeover Thursday from 6 to 8 at Waddell's Brewpub.

– A Wander Brewing tasting Thursday from 6 to 8 at Nectar Wine and Beer in Kendall Yards will offer six samples for $10 plus a paper airplane contest, with the farthest flight earning a free growler.

FRIDAY

– Iron Horse will be featured in this week's brewer's lunch Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Central Food, with tap offerings and beer-themed food specials (no tickets or reservations necessary).

– A test batch of No-Li's upcoming new canned IPA, Big Juicy, goes on tap at the pub on Friday.

– Alaskan Brewing's Jalapeno IPA, Hopothermia Imperial IPA and Heritage Coffee Brown Ale are lined up for a tasting Friday from 5 to 8 at the North Side Growler Guys.

SATURDAY

– Waddell's Brewpub will pour an array of beers – including its Smokey the Beer porter, Alligator Stout, My Nilla vanilla/bourbon/oatmeal stout, Connie Mack Reserve strong ale and a new Dragon Slayer roasted habanero/cilantro pale – in a winter brews party Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m.; for $10 you get four 6-ounce tasters and accompanying food items, plus a pint of your choice. 

– River City’s third anniversary party Saturday from 3 to 10 p.m. will offer 11 beers on tap – including the debut of this year’s Congratulator Doppelbock alongside last year’s version, plus 2014 vintages of Oako-Coco Nitro imperial stout, Deep Thaw Winter Warmer and a bourbon barrel-aged stout – along with live music by Folkinception at 5 and food from the Couple of Chefs truck.    

– Black Label, along with neighboring Common Crumb bakery, celebrates its first year of operation Saturday from 3 to 10 with $3 pints and $10 growler fills, and the planned release of a fruity new IPA dubbed Tropical Thunder. There will be live evening music, and Common Crumb will have macarons made with the Tropical Thunder hops as well as spent grain brewer’s bread.

– A few tickets still are available for Vintage Vines' Beer Hop brewery bus tour on Saturday, with stops at Hopped Up, Black Label, Orlison and Bellwether before returning to the Spokane Valley wine shop for dinner. Cost is $45 for beer samples and food; call (509) 227-9463.

– Badass Backyard Brewing will host its first live music Saturday from 5 to 8 with roots singer/songwriter Mark Holt.
