– Badass Backyard today taps a sessionable Half Hitch Irish Stout (4 percent alcohol by volume, 44 International Bitterness Units).

 

UPDATES TUESDAY 1/24

– The popular Kumquat IPA is back on tap at Perry Street.

– Sandpoint's Idaho Pour Authority will host a launch party for Boise's Woodland Empire Ale Craft on Thursday from 5 to 8, featuring the CIty of Trees and So Juicy Hazy IPAs, Big Sticky IRA, Pilsner and Electric Warrior Oatmeal Stout.

 

A look at the upcoming week in local craft beer:

MONDAY

Manito Tap House is pouring a rare keg of Boneyard's bourbon barrel-aged Suge Knite imperial stout (13 percent alcohol by volume, 80 International Bitterness Units). It's the first in an occasional series of special beers that Manito will announce only through social media, without being listed on the regular menu; follow them on Facebook/Instagram/Twitter for future releases.

Waddell's Brewpub today taps an Opus One version of its blackberry sour aged in French oak barrels; also look for that one at the South Hill Growler Guys, Area 51 North, Steady Flow Growler House and Post Street Ale House. 

– Slate Creek hosts a Yoga Pint Night from 6:30 to 8:30; for $15, you get an hour of flow yoga, an hour of chill and a pint of your choice (advance registration requested).

TUESDAY

– From 5 to 10, Pints Alehouse hosts the first of the week's three launch parties for Michigan's Founders Brewing, which has started distributing to the Northwest. The beer lineup includes Rubaeus raspberry ale; the All Day, Azacca and Centennial IPAs; Dirty Bastard Scotch ale and the bourbon barrel-aged Backwoods Bastard; Porter, and the Imperial, Breakfast, Nitro Oatmeal and barrel-aged (with blueberries, chocolate and vanilla) Lizard of Koz stouts (full and 5.5-ounce pours available).

– The Coeur d'Alene Growler Guys is offering $2 discounts on 32-ounce crowler fills to celebrate National Beer Can Appreciation Day.

WEDNESDAY

– Boise's Woodland Empire Ale Craft, new to North Idaho, comes to Pilgrim's for a free tasting starting at 3:30 including the City of Trees and So Juicy IPAs, Big Sticky IRA, Electric Warrior Oatmeal Stout and Chapter 3 Anniversary Ale.

– The #SpoBU Twitter meetup group holds its monthly gathering from 4 to 6 at The Lantern Tap House.

– A Founders launch party from 6 to 9 at The Flying Goat features Rubaeus, All Day and Azacca IPAs, Backwoods Bastard and the Imperial, Breakfast, Nitro Oatmeal and Lizard of Koz stouts.

THURSDAY

– Five unannounced River City beers will be paired with food courses in a Mystery Beer Dinner starting at 6 at The Blackbird. Cost is $55 (includes tax and tip); call (509) 392-4000 for reservations.   

– A Founders launch party from 6 to 10 at The Lantern Tap House will include Rubaeus, All Day, Azacca and Centennial IPAs, Dirty Bastard and Backwoods Bastard, regular Porter and the Breakfast and Lizard of Koz stouts; get four 4-ounce tasters plus a pint for $8 (music by Lucas Brown at 8 p.m.)

– Georgetown beers will be featured in a pint night at McClain's Pizzeria from 6 to 8, with prize drawings.

FRIDAY

– Sierra Nevada's barrel-aged Trip in the Woods series – Bigfoot barleywine with ginger, Narwahl imperial stout with currants and a Biere de Garde aged in port wine barrels – will pour in a tasting from 5 to 7 at the Coeur d'Alene Growler Guys.

– Coeur d'Alene's Filling Station on 5th hosts a Woodland Empire release party from 6 to 9.

– The Steam Plant releases a Cranberry Sour made with organic berries.

SATURDAY

River City celebrates its fourth anniversary from 3 to 10 with a rotating selection of 12 specialty beers – including a new anniversary Baltic porter – plus food from One Night Stand BBQ and live music by Haley Young and L.O.S. (Left Over Soul).

Black Label's second anniversary party from 4 to 10 will include $3 pints, live music by Andy Rumsey and merchandise raffles ($2 per ticket).
