Craft Beer Week: Wednesday

Rick Bonino

The Collaboration Celebration (see post above) may be the big news today, but there’s plenty more going on during this third day of Spokane (and American) Craft Beer Week (keep checking back through the day for late-breaking updates):

– Twelve String has an IPA Day with $1 off pints and growlers from noon to 9, and also will be serving a cabernet barrel-aged porter and syrah barrel stout.

– Hopped Up releases its new Wrong Way IPA (dedicated to those drivers headed east on one-way west Sprague Avenue in front of the brewery), with Magnum, Ahtanum and lots of Cascade hops, starting at 3; get an $8 growler fill of all regular beers with a pint purchase.

– Wallace Brewing has a release party for its Ryenot Steam Lager collaboration with Slate Creek from 3 to 8.

– Pilgrim’s in Coeur d’Alene hosts a free tasting featuring Montana’s Madison River Brewing beginning at 3:30, with the Salmon Fly Honey Rye, Dropper IPA, The Juice Double IPA, Copper John Scotch Ale and Black Ghost Oatmeal Stout.

– Orlison taps its first-ever firkin at 4, full of Not So Red Northwest Brown.

– Slate Creek will pour its Ryenot collaboration with Wallace when it opens at 5, along with the 5 Chimneys blended stout collaboration with Daft Badger, Downdraft, Laughing Dog and Selkirk Abbey (also on tap at Downdraft and Selkirk).

– Iron Goat is serving two returning recipes from last year's Year of the Goat small-batch series – Catalan Red and Oatmeal Pale – along with its Goat Breaker tart blood orange IPA collaboration with Bale Breaker.

– Daft Badger’s weekly Wednesday small-batch release is the return of Peach Perfect pumpkin peach ale, originally brewed in response to this infamous Super Bowl ad.

– Bennidito’s Brewpub releases its latest single-hop pale, starring Columbus.

– Bellwether’s beer-themed trivia night runs from 7:30 to 9.

– Moscow's Rants & Raves taps a small-batch medieval-style braggot honey beer at 6.

– The Area 51 taphouses at both the downtown and North Side Onion Bar & Grill are holding a local IPA competition all week, with voting on blind taste-test samplers of entries by Bellwether, Big Barn, Orlison, Perry Street, River City, Waddell’s, Wallace and Whistle Punk.

– The 2015 Lost Abbey Santo Ron Diego spiced rum barrel-aged strong ale and Fremont''s 2015 Kentucky Dark Star bourbon barrel-aged imperial oatmeal stout are the day’s specialties at Manito Tap House.

– The Blackbird offers a whiskey barrel-aged version of River City’s Midnight Marmot imperial stout.

– Deschutes’ 2014 Not the Stoic barrel-aged Belgian-style quad with pomegranate molasses will be pouring at The Lantern Tap House

– The Flying Goat has No-Li’s bourbon barrel-aged Rise & Grind coffee milk stout.

– Look for the 2015 Firestone Walker Velvet Merkin barrel-aged oatmeal stout at Republic Pi.

– Steady Flow Growler House and Waddell’s Brewpub have local tap takeovers all week (with a special beer-infused fresh sheet menu at Waddell’s), along with weeklong beer specials at Laughing Dog, Black Label and the Steam Plant.
