UPDATE WEDNESDAY 9/30: Today's small-batch releases are both big pumpkin beers - a straight, strong Pumpkin Spice (7.9, 11) at Daft Badger in Coeur d'Alene, and a Bourbon Barrel Belgian Pumpkin Ale (7.7) at Iron Goat. 

  

A look ahead at the upcoming week in local craft beer:

– Bellwether Brewing has its grand opening Tuesday at 3 p.m. at 2019 N. Monroe, with a mixture of modern and Old World (i.e., braggot, gruit) styles. Look for a full report here later in the week.

– Orlison's monthly Community Pints night Tuesday will see $1 from every pint sold between 5 and 9 p.m. donated to Free Rein Therapeutic Riding,

– The Blackbird kicks off its brewer’s dinner series Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. with a 10-course menu accompanied by five sour beers from New Belgium. A few seats were still left at last report; cost is $80 (includes tax and tip).

– Pilgrim’s in Coeur d’Alene features Selkirk Abbey beers in a tasting Wednesday from 3:30 to 6:30, including the barrel-aged version of Guilt imperial porter.

– Epic Brewing will be October’s featured brewery at Nectar Wine and Beer in Kendall Yards, with six of the Salt Lake City beers on tap throughout the month starting Thursday.

– Perry Street will host Trickster’s for a joint pouring of their Simcoe and Citra fresh hop beers on Thursday from 5 to 8.

– The Inland Northwest Craft Beer Festival returns to Avista Stadium on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 8. We’ll have detailed reports on the don’t-miss beer lineup throughout the week.

– Yakima’s renowned Fresh Hop Ale Festival is Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m., with more than 100 offerings from some 40 brewers.   

– Area craft beers and homebrews will pour Saturday from 1 to 7 p.m. at Harrison, Idaho’s annual Oktoberfest in the city park, along with live music, kids’ activities and food.

– German beers and food, plus live music, are on the menu for The Two Seven Public House’s parking lot Oktoberfest on Saturday from noon to 8, with one-liter Paulaner steins for sale.
