UPDATE FRIDAY 12/4

– The South Hill Growler Guys celebrates its first anniversary Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. with $1 off fills, limited-release barrel-aged beers, a drawing for a gift basket and college basketball ticket giveaways.

UPDATE THURSDAY 12/3

– A rich, full-bodied oatmeal stout is the pour for this month's Firkin Friday at Laughing Dog ($3 pints from the 5 p.m. tapping until it's gone). 

 

UPDATES TUESDAY 12/1

– This week's small-batch releases at Bellwether are a Coffee Dunkel hefeweizen with roasted wheat and coffee grounds, and a lightly sweet Cinnamon Tart.

– Slate Creek releases its Windburn Winter Imperial Red on Wednesday for Slate @ 8:00, with music by Kosh and Pepe Caldo pizza by the slice.

– An Imperial Maple Ale (10.5 percent ABV) will be Wednesday's weekly small-batch release at Daft Badger.

– A dozen Odell beers are on tap all month for The Filling Station on 5th's 12 Beers of Christmas, including two new to North Idaho –Levity Amber and Easy Street Wheat – plus the limited-release Russian Pirate rum barrel-aged imperial stout.  

 

A look at the upcoming week in local craft beer:

– Bellwether marks the end of No-Shave November with a free Beard and Mustache Competition on Tuesday, with prizes in four categories (Most Improved, Wild Man, Best Groomed and Everyman).

– Six Stone beers – the Go To, Ruination and Sorry Not Sorry IPAs, plus 24 Carrot Golden Ale, Chai-Spiced Russian Imperial Stout and nitro Xocoveza Milk Stout – will be featured in a tap takeover Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Flying Goat.  

– The Blackbird launches a monthly Flight Night series Thursday at 6 with four barrel-aged imperial stouts: No-Li’s Blackfill, Firestone’s Parabola, North Coast’s Old Rasputin and Port’s Older Viscosity. A flight of 4-ounce pours is $19, with refills available.

– Boise's Sockeye is December's brewery of the month at Nectar Wine and Beer, with six beers on tap through the month: Galena Gold Kolsch, Hell Diver Pale, Dagger Falls IPA, Powerhouse Porter, Winterfest and the limited-release 7 Devils Russian Imperial Stout. You can get a flight of all six for $10 at an introductory tasting Thursday from 6 to 8. 

– Big Barn is offering Santa photos to benefit Higher Ground Animal Sanctuary ($5 donation) along with its regular Christmas tree/pints/chili package Friday through Sunday from noon to 7.

– The North Side Total Wine will host Laughing Dog for a tasting Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.

– Pullman's Paradise Creek will pour its Peppermint Porter for one night only during its annual winter parking lot party Friday at 6 p.m., along with firepits, hot chocolate and s'mores. 

– Trickster’s celebrates its third anniversary Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. with the release of a bourbon barrel-aged oatmeal stout.

– A few tickets still are left for the 19th annual 12 Ales of Christmas at Capone’s in Coeur d’Alene on Saturday at 6:30, with a dozen winter seasonal tasters, souvenir cup and T-shirt, buffet food and a free taxi ride home (in the Coeur d’Alene area); cost is $55.
