UPDATE THURSDAY 11/5

– Bellwether is celebrating today's International Stout Day with four versions on tap: its Session Stout (2.9 percent alcohol by volume), traditional dry Brother by Choice (4.2), a small-batch Imperial Stout (around 10) and an Old World-style, non-hopped Gruit Stout brewed with mugwort and juniper.  

 

UPDATES TUESDAY 11/3

– A Lagunitas event tonight from 6 to 8 at Manito Tap House will feature four beers – Born Yesterday fresh hop pale, Maximus imperial IPA, Doppel Sticky double alt and the Brown Shugga’ winter seasonal – along with merchandise giveaways.

– Bellwether is tapping two rosemary-infused beers today to celebrate the first birthday of brewer Thomas Croskrey's daughter by that name: a "dry-herbed" English-style pale ale, and a bottle-conditioned saison with honey, peaches and rosemary.  

– Local breweries are getting a jump Wednesday on Thursday's International Stout Day, with Trickster's pouring $3 pints of its oatmeal stout and Twelve String offering its bourbon barrel-aged Double Drop D Stout. And on Friday, The Lantern Tap House joins in belatedly by tapping Dogfish Head's huge World Wide Stout at 4 p.m. ($9 per 10-ounce pour).

– Daft Badger's weekly Wednesday small-batch release is a single-hop Simcoe IPA, while Iron Goat has its Cap'n Kidd Scotch ale aged over Luxardo Marasca cocktail cherries.

– Pilgrim's in Coeur d’Alene will feature beers from Boise’s Sockeye Brewing in a tasting Wednesday at 3:30, including Fresh Hop 7 Jack Pale Ale – a single-malt, single-hop with Idaho-grown pale malt and experimental hops from Wilder's Jackson Hop Farms – plus Helldiver Pale, Powerhouse Porter and Winterfest. A brewery rep will be on hand.

– The Hop Shop hosts Hopped Up for a tap takeover Friday at 4 p.m., with pint and flight specials and food from the new Bite Me truck.

– Trickster's Hop Box and Limelight fresh-hops and Cougar Bay Blonde will be featured Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the North Side Growler Guys, with pint glass and sticker giveaways. 

 

A look ahead at the upcoming week in local craft beer:

– River City’s first weekly Micro Monday features $3 pints today from 3 to 9 p.m.

– Mad Bomber has half-price pints and growler fills throughout the week leading up to its second anniversary celebration Saturday (more details on that to come).

– Orlison is offering any of its 16-ounce canned beers for $1.50 in the taproom Tuesday.

– No-Li will serve its Crony brown ale through a Randall with cacao, mint and orange peel  for this week’s Brewsday Tuesday gathering from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

– Six beers from November’s brewery of the month, Fremont – Wandering Wheat, Session Pale, Cowiche Canyon Mosaic/Equinox fresh hop, Interurban IPA, Bonfire winter ale and Dark Star Imperial Oatmeal Stout – will pour in a tasting Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Nectar Wine and Beer in Kendall Yards. Cost is $10 for the flight, with the first 20 people in attendance taking home a souvenir pint glass.

– A Lagunitas tasting Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bottles in Millwood will include Dogtown Pale, Born Yesterday fresh hop pale, IPA, Imperial Pils, Doppel Sticky double alt and the Brown Shugga’ winter seasonal, with a brewery rep on hand.  

– The Inland Brewers Unite (IBU) club celebrates national Learn to Homebrew Day on Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. at The Porch, 1804 W. Broadway, with brewing demonstrations, an equipment and ingredients swap meet and homebrew sharing. You must be a member to attend; sign up here.
