Two for dinner

Rick Bonino

The first official Spokane Craft Beer Week is almost upon us, and you’re definitely going to need a scorecard to keep track of all the players.

There’s an overview in our On Tap column in today’s 7 section of The Spokesman-Review, and we’ll be posting early each day next week with lots more details on that day’s happenings.

You can simply drop in on most of the events, but there are a couple of beer dinners taking place next Wednesday where advance reservations are requested:

– Durkin’s Liquor Bar is pairing with Perry Street Brewing for a six-course spread starting at 6 p.m. The menu features:

  • Perry’s Kolsch accompanying a salad of local greens with radishes, toasted almonds, blue cheese and grapefruit vinaigrette.
  • Beer bread with farmhouse cheddar and walnuts drizzled with bourbon-spiked honey, with the Saison.
  • El Dorado Single Hop Pale with braised and seared sliced hog jowl and pickled mustard seeds.
  • An intermezzo of lemon and fennel ice.
  • Grilled cold-smoked salmon with charred fresh corn fritters, hop tea gastrique and sautéed garlic kale, paired with IPA.
  • Doma coffee porter with Doma espresso chocolate orange terrine and a vanilla tuile cookie.

Cost is $60, which includes tax and tip; call (509) 863-9501 to save your spot.

– Chairs Public House is serving Orlison’s lagers along with four of its culinary creations beginning at 6 p.m., including:

  • Havanüther pilsner with popcorn roux beer and cheese soup.
  • Lizzy’s Red with Very Red Beer Bread, amber lager butter, spiced pickled red beets and red beer glaze.
  • Clem’s Gold with rosemary and garlic-encrusted chicken breast, cheesy au gratin potatoes and sautéed kale with shaved prosciutto.
  • Underground Stout and s’mores made with toasted marshmallow ice cream, shaved spiced chocolate and stout syrup.

Cost is $35; for reservations, call (509) 381-0909.
