UPDATE WEDNESDAY 7/15: This week's Wednesday small-batch releases are a Rye Stout at Iron Goat (5.5 percent alcohol by volume, 29 International Bitterness Units), and an imperial IPA at Daft Badger in Coeur d'Alene (10.6, 75).

A look ahead at the upcoming week in local beer:

– Waddell’s, which just started distributing in North Idaho, will be featured in a pint night Thursday starting at 5 p.m. at Enoteca in Post Falls. Look for $10 flights of the Fireman’s Amber (regular and barrel-aged), Left Hook IPA and Alligator Stout, and a Q&A with head brewer Bryan Utigard at 7.

– Beers from Sam Adams take the spotlight in classes Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Total Wine stores in North Spokane and Spokane Valley, with cheese pairings; cost is $5.

– The occasional, sessionable Afternoon IPA (4.9 percent alcohol by volume, 65 International Bitterness Units) returns to River City on Friday, this time hopped with Amarillo, Equinox and Centennial for citrusy, tropical fruitiness with spicy, earthy undertones.

Top Frog in Newport celebrates its second anniversary Saturday from 1 to 8 p.m. with live music, a sausage feed and 10 beers on tap including a Sour Jack Rye aged in whiskey barrels.

– The monthly Music, Micros & BBQ at the Coeur d’Alene Casino on Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. includes local craft beer by Laughing Dog and Wallace, as well as offerings from Leinenkugel and Blue Moon; cost is $17.

– Stone is the sponsor for Saturday's installment of The Lantern Tap House's Summer Concert Series, with $4 pint specials starting at 4 p.m. and music at 9 by Pine League and Shannon Winant.
