This one time, at beer camp …

Rick Bonino

This summer, to celebrate the opening of a second brewery in North Carolina, California’s Sierra Nevada teamed up with a dozen other outstanding craft brewers across the country for Beer Camp Across America – a mix pack of collaboration brews, accompanied by a seven-city traveling beer festival.

Spokane wasn’t one of the stops, but here’s the next best thing: The Lantern Tap House is pouring all 12 of them on draft through Saturday in its outdoor beer garden. It's the only place these beers have landed in Washington, Idaho and Montana.

We’re looking forward to checking out our favorites from the pack, like Yvan the Great Belgian-style blonde (6.3 percent alcohol by volume, 50 International Bitterness Units), done in conjunction with California’s Russian River; Canfusion rye bock (7.2, 45), with Colorado’s Oskar Blues; Tater Ridge Scottish ale (7, 35), brewed using sweet potato, with North Carolina’s Asheville Brewers Alliance; and Maillard’s Odyssey imperial dark ale (8.5, 40) with Bell’s in Michigan.

There’s plenty more to choose from: Torpedo Pilsner (5.2, 45) with California’s Firestone Walker; Myron’s Walk Belgian-style pale ale (5.3, 38) with Allegash in Maine; There and Back English-style bitter (5.6, 40) with Wisconsin’s New Glarus; Alt Route altbier (6.6, 50) with Pennsylvania’s Victory.

Plus Chico King pale ale (6.5, 45) with 3 Floyds in Indiana; Electric Ray India pale lager (8.5, 70) with San Diego’s Ballast Point; Yonder Bock tropical Maibock (7.7, 45) with Cigar City in Florida; and a Double Latte coffee milk stout (7.6, 60) with Ninkasi.

You can get full pints, or sets of four 4-ounce samplers; buy both, and you get a souvenir tasting glass. The fun continues Friday from 4 to 10 p.m., and Saturday from 11 a.m. until 10.
