Thank God it’s flannel

Rick Bonino

Flannel is more than a fashion statement this time of year. But whatever your reason for sporting the style, it can get you a good deal this weekend at The Lantern Tap House.

During the third annual Flannel Fest today and Saturday, those clad in the plaid (or other patterns, of course) receive happy hour prices anytime.

Ninkasi is the featured brewery, with taps including some 2012 Critical Hit barley wine, the Sleigh’r dark double alt winter beer, Oatis oatmeal stout, Venn Dortmund-style lager and a pair of IPAs, Total Domination today and Tricerahops tomorrow. Look for a taster/pint combo with a souvenir glass, and a brewery rep on hand with more schwag.

There’s also live music at 10 p.m., by The Camaros tonight and Buffalo Jones tomorrow.

TGIFirestone: Enoteca in Post Falls is hosting a release party for Firestone Walker’s 18th Anniversary Ale starting today at 5 p.m.

The big beer (13 percent alcohol by volume, 35 International Bitterness Units) is a blend of nine different barrel-aged offerings, mostly bourbon barrel Parabola Russian imperial oatmeal stout (38 percent of the final blend), and bourbon and brandy barrel Helldorado blonde barley wine, Bravo imperial brown (16 percent each) and Stickee Monkee English barley wine (14 percent).

TGIFreedom: No-Li is honoring our men and women in uniform today with an Armed Forces Appreciation Night.

A toast at 5 p.m. will follow a presentation by Air Force Lt. Colonel Keith Goetz. Military personnel get a discount pint between 4:30 and 5.
