Silverwood's Steam Locomotive Turns 100!
Congratulations to our winners, Lily, Ayden and Paige! Thanks to everyone who entered! Look for many of these in an upcoming Silverwood section later this spring. In 2015, Silverwood Theme Park’s steam engine turns 100, and it’s a perfect opportunity to celebrate! The Northwest’s largest theme park is asking local young artists to help mark the birthday of Old No. 7 by drawing a memory of favorite trip aboard it – or image their own crazy train adventure! One drawing will be chosen to be on the cover of a new Silverwood activity book given to park visitors this season, full of fun things to color and other enjoyable things to do. In addition to having their original artwork represented on the book’s cover, the talented artist will also have the opportunity to be an honorary deputy in one of the train shows on Opening Weekend. The second- and third-place winners receive two day passes for Opening Weekend, which can be used May 2 or 3. Submissions must be received by 5 p.m. April 3. They can be dropped off at the Review Tower main office lobby located at 999 W. Riverside Ave., Spokane, WA 99201, or mail entries to the same address to the attention of Silverwood Engine No. 7 Coloring Contest. Entries must include artist’s name, email, phone number and age. They also can be emailed to contests@spokesman.com, uploaded at www.spokane7.com Artists must be age 12 or younger, one entry per person. For complete rules visit Contest Rules
NOTE: Before photos show up in the reader photo gallery, they must be approved by an editor. If yours does not show up immediately, fear not. The only likely delay is that an editor has not had a chance to approve new photo submissions yet. Thanks for participating!
