Regal to reopen theaters on July 10

Dan Webster

For those of you who have missed going to a movie theater, Regal has some good news: The theater chain, which operates a trio of multiplexes in the Spokane/Coeur d'Alene area, has announced it will reopen its doors on July 10.

All Regal theaters have been closed since March 17 due to concern over the COV)D-19 pandemic.

Regal operates the theater complexes in the Northtown Mall, Spokane Valley Mall and Coeur d'Alene's Riverstone Stadium.

According to a Regal press release, the "(r)opening plans include a wide range of new health and safety measures based on guidelines provided from the CDC and other public health organizations." Among those measures: contactless payment, the use of "electrostatic" fogger equipment, reduced seating by as much as 50 percent, and "where required by local governance, all employees and guests will wear masks."

No word as yet regarding other area theaters, AMC River Park Square, the Village Center Cinemas at Airway Heights and Wandermere, the Garland Theater or the Magic Lantern Theater.
