Nectar Wine and Beer

1331 W. Summit Pkwy, Spokane, WA

Around Spokane, the name Nectar has been associated with wine – specifically, the co-op winery tasting room downtown. But there’s plenty for beer fans to like at its recently opened sister establishment, Nectar Wine and Beer in Kendall Yards. There are 16 rotating taps in the bright, airy bar space overlooking the Spokane River (with an inviting patio), with six devoted to a featured brewery each month; brewery reps are on hand for a tasting the first Thursday. Another 100 bottled beers are available in the retail shop up front; you can choose one of those and pop it in the bar for an extra $1.50. That fee is waived if you join the Growler Club, which also gets you discounts on growler fills, bottle purchases and the weekly Thursday wine and beer tastings (there's happy hour for everyone Tuesday through Friday from 2 to 5). Food is available from neighboring Veraci Pizza, along with in-house appetizers including beer-glazed bacon and a charcuterie and cheese plate (craft cheeses also are available to go by the ounce); Taco Trivia Tuesdays run from 6:30 to 9 p.m. It’s all housed in the typically stylish surroundings created by Hurtado/Hissong Design Group, with light concrete floors and an open black ceiling warmed by a large wooden archway over the plush seating area between the bottle shop and more minimalist bar.
