Left Bank Wine Bar
108 N. Washington St., Spokane, WA
As the name suggests, wine is the star of the show here, with more than 50 by the glass. But LeftBank also has eight beer taps (along with two for cider), and it does more with those than some places that have twice as many. Almost everything is local, and some are things you won’t easily find elsewhere (like, during one visit, an Iron Goat sour and a whiskey barrel-aged Kootenai River imperial IPA). There's also a selection of canned beers. The atmosphere is both chic and welcoming, with brick and textured wallpaper walls, a glass-topped bar, black furnishings, gas fireplace and hanging art-style photos. The menu features pizzas, salads, appetizers and phyllo-wrapped “bites”; come hungry on Monday night for board games, Wednesday for the challenging HighBrow Trivia and Thursday through Saturday for live music. Even if you don’t drink, that’s no problem; non-alcoholic offerings include ginger beer and sparkling guava.
