Offering lunch and dinner seatings April 12 in Spokane and dinner April 24 in Coeur d’Alene, the Union Gospel Mission will put a spotlight on a significant underlying cause of homelessness - the trauma adults experienced when they were children. To help explain the damage done by childhood trauma, Dr. Mark J. Baird, a clinical psychologist and assistant professor at Whitworth University, will speak about the long-term effects of psychological trauma on the brain. The Spokane sessions will take place at the Hotel RL by Red Lion at the Park, 303 W. North River Drive at noon and 6:30 p.m. Dinner in Coeur d’Alene will take place at the Best Western Coeur d’Alene Inn, 506 W.
