Even on the road, ‘A Good Meal is Hard to Find’

Dan Webster

If you're tired of cooking the same food every night, you might want to pick up (as in order online) a copy of "A Good Meal Is Hard to Find: Storied Recipes From the Deep South."

The cookbook, which freelance food writer Leslie Kelly reviewed for Forbes.com., is a compilation of stories and recipes created and/or collected by co-authors Amy C. Evans and Martha Hall Foose.

As Kelly wrote, "The 60 recipes are arranged in five chapters starting with 'Morning’s Glories' and wrapping up in 'Anytime Sweets.' Southern lit fans will be especially charmed to find the final recipe in the collection — Gracious Chocolate Fudge Cake — is a tribute to Flannery O'Connor.

Kelly, of course, is the former Spokesman-Review staff writer who (with her husband John Nelson, another former SR staffer) is RVing across America and chronicling her experiences for Forbes.com and other publications.

And some of the meals she manages to cook up on her small grill, which she posts regularly on her Facebook page, look scrumptious.
