Friday’s openings: Straight from ‘Hellboy’

Dan Webster

A range of movie genres is expected to be on display this coming Friday, if the national movie-release schedule is any indication. Here are the projected openings:

"After": Based on the serial novel reputed to be the next "50 Shades of Gray," this dark romance involves a young woman getting involved with a guy harboring a dark secret. All together now, "Oooooooooohhhh!"

"Hellboy": The title character (played this time by David Harbour of "Stranger Things") is called to the English countryside to take on a trio of rampaging giants. Not starring Ron Perlman and not directed by Guillermo del Toro.

"Little": When adult life gets too much for her, a business owner (Regina Hall) suddenly reverts to 13-year-old she once was. Switching ages? Where have we seen some like this before? Maybe here? Or here? Or in a reverse twist here?

"Missing Link": A Mr. Link (voiced by Zach Galifanakis) hires an explorer (voiced by Hugh Jackman) to go with him to find both Shangri-La and his long-lost relatives.

As always, I'll update when the local theaters finalize their bookings.
