Auntie’s event tunes into teen-themed fantasy

Many of us who read often wonder what it takes to write a novel. To be specific, how do writers delve into worlds that are far from their own experiences?

Say, for example, teen fantasies such as alternate worlds and vampire love.

Writers exploring diverse worlds is just one of the subjects that's likely to come up in a special Zoom event scheduled to take place at 7 Friday night. Sponsored by Auntie’s Bookstore, the event will feature a conversation between three writers, two of whom have new books out.

The two authors question are Emily McKay, author of “Storybound,” and Tracy Wolff, author of “Crave.” The talk will be moderated by another writer, Spokane's Trace Kerr (“The Names We Take”).

Kirkus Reviews described “Storybound” as “a fast-paced and feisty tale, perfect for anyone who’s ever had a book boyfriend.” Writing in Hypable, reviewer Danielle Zimmerman said, “As someone who loved ‘Twilight’ when I first read it, I’ll say that while ‘Crave’ satisfies the itch for a new vampire romance full of angst and mystery, it’s very much its own thing.”
