- Capsule review:
- A cop battling alcoholism (Benjamin Bratt) is assigned to investigate the disappearance of a college student, and in the process he meets the missing guy's comely girlfriend (Katie Holmes). She's smart, she's sexy and she's needy, just the right combination for a guy barely hanging on. But then there's the memory that pesky dead guy (Charlie Hunnam)... or is he really dead? Despite more red herrings than an Ivar's franchise, including the effectively creepy Melanie Lynskey and the always dependable Zooey Deschanel, "Abandon" is about as hard to figure out as a grade-school riddle: Why did the movie fan fall asleep in "Abandon"? (Because "The Ring" was sold out.)
