“Preserving the Legacies of Cesar Chavez and La Causa”

For more than 15 years, Dr. Ray Rast of Gonzaga University has worked with the National Park Service, the Cesar E. Chavez Foundation, the United Farm Workers and other stakeholders to preserve historic sites associated with Cesar Chavez and the farm worker movement of the American west. Rast will present an overview of Chavez’s life and work and discuss his own role in the National Park Service’s “American Latino Heritage Initiative” From 2011-2017 and in the establishment of the Cesar E. Chavez National Monument in 2012.
