“Ireland, Irish America and Work”

Oct. 19-22. The western regional meeting of the American Conference for Irish Studies will feature the extraordinary Donegal poet, Moya Cannon, author of “Carrying the Songs; plenaries on the Magdalene Laundries and Irish-American Labor History” as well as many fascinating talks on Irish literature and history. Evening reception Thursday, followed by panels and plenaries on Friday and Saturday. Also Saturday, there will be a screening of the Notre Dame University documentary film “1916, The Irish Rebellion,” followed by a banquet featuring traditional Irish food, as well as Irish music and possibly dance.
