29th Annual Writing Rally
The rally is an annual family literacy initiative for students in pre-school through sixth grade. The event features a presentation by well-known children’s author Patrick Jennings, followed by a time for participants to work with area teachers or Whitworth education students to create an original illustrated book by hand or with a computer. The Writing Rally provides an opportunity for children to develop their reading and writing skills with assistance from a professional author and trained educators. Parents or guardians attend with their child for all aspects of the event to further promote literacy across the family. Registration required by March 6 and a parent or guardian must accompany each child participating in the rally; some volunteers are available, call to request. Sessions at 8:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Register at www.whitworth.edu/writingrally
