North Idaho: West Fork Lake and Peak Hike

Distance: 6-7 miles roundtrip with up to 1,500 ft elevation gain/loss Difficulty: Difficult Family Friendly: Not really, kids over 10 with hiking experience could enjoy this hike Hike Description: Wetlands, alpine flora and fauna, old growth forests and spectacular vistas await those who embark on this trek to the West Fork Lake in the heart of caribou country near the Canadian border. This loop starts on the trail to West Fork Cabin before heading to West Fork Lake, with a push up to the ridge above West Fork Lake where breathtaking views await. Keep an eye out for grizzly signs.
