Horses chosen must be at least four years of age, stand 72 inches at the shoulder when fully mature, weigh between 1,800 and 2,300 pounds, have a bay in coat, have four white legs and a blaze of white on the face and a black mane and tail. A gentle temperament is very important as hitch horses meet millions of people each year. Viewing at the Spokane County Fairgrounds, Broadway at Havana, on May 18, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., May 19, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., May 20, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., May 21, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and May 22, 10 a.m.-noon. They will be in full hitch on May 19, 5-7 p.m. in front of INB Performing Arts Center, 334 W. Spokane Falls Blvd.; and May 21 at the Spokane Lilac Parade which starts at 7:45 p.m. On May 20, A single horse will be at Providence Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital, 101 W. Eighth Ave., from 10 a.m.-noon and at Ronald McDonald House, 1015 W. Fifth Ave. from 1-3 p.m.
