Ninth Annual Smoking Waters Mountain Man Rendezvous & 1800’s Living History Encampment

Featuring entertainment, demonstrations and discussions related to trades and crafts of the 1800s. Register for the Black Powder Shoot Aug. 9 at 8 a.m. and shoot at 9 a.m. Sponsored by Highcountry Muzzleloading, Bozeman, 406-587-6265. Register for the Primitive Bow Shoot Aug. 3 and l0 at 8 a.m., $5 fee with prizes awarded to top three places. Public may participate, a primitive, handmade wood bow is required. The Knife and Hawk Competition immediately follows bow shoot. Storytelling, Traders row, beading, leatherwork, Parfletch, Knife & hawk throw, Primitive Bow Shooting and Competition, Primitive Bow making, Flintknapping, Felt Hatmaking, Candy Canon, food. The encampment is set at West Yellowstone Old Airport and is clearly visible to all travelers arriving on U.S. 20 from the southwest. Smoking Waters Mountain Main Rendezvous is located on the Gallatin National Forest Service land immediately west of West Yellowstone and adjacent to Iris Street.
