May 2-3. Learn why it is important to be prepared. Geared for the newbie as well as the experienced, this two-day event will cover the 5 S’s of preparedness: Safety, Sustenance, Shelter, Skills & Supplies. Browse the vendors, sit in on classes offered and learn about alternative energy sources, canning, home defense, communication in an emergency situation, first aid and many other topics. Visit www.nwpreparednessexpo.com for events schedule, vendor info, and kids activities. Hours are Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
