2114 Spokane Lilac Festival’s Royalty Coronation
The mission of the Spokane Lilac Festival is honoring our military, celebrating our youth, and showcasing our region. Established in 1938, the Spokane Lilac Festival set its sights on celebrating the beautiful Lilac City, Spokane. Growing it to a popular destination event and the nation’s largest Armed Forces Torchlight Parade. The Spokane Lilac Festival dedicates itself to involving local youth, the nation’s military, and to establishing community spirit in the Inland Northwest. In an enduring effort to achieve that mission, the Spokane Lilac Festival participates in a variety of events that support local armed service men and women, including partnerships with Toys for Tots, Fairchild Air Force Base, Veteran Benefit events, and Spokane Navy Week. Annually, seven of the best and brightest young ladies from local schools are selected to serve as youth ambassadors through the Lilac Royalty Program. Throughout the summer, Lilac Festival directors travel with the theme float and royalty to over 20 parades and festivals in Washington, Idaho, Oregon and Canada.
