Martin Luther King Jr. Human Rights Community Breakfast
Sponsored by the Latah County Human Rights Task Force. The event includes a full breakfast, entertainment, a featured speaker, presentation of two Rosa Parks Human Rights Achievement Awards, and presentation of awards to winners of the Martin Luther King Jr. Art and Essay Contest. This year’s featured speaker is Dr. Thomas “Les” Purce, politician, businessman, educator, and university administrator who is currently president of The Evergreen State College, Olympia, WA. Born in Pocatello, Idaho, he is the grandson of pioneering black Idahoans, and as former Mayor of Pocatello was the first black elected official in the state of Idaho.
