The Columbia Mammoth, Mammut columbi, ranged across North America for most of the last Ice Age before fading into extinction soon after humans entered the scene. Spectacular bone and tusk discoveries around Spokane in the 1870s brought mammoths back into the public eye. The special slide presentation by author and historian Jack Nisbet will feature stories about past digs, traveling bones and exciting current scientific work on our most well-known fossil mammal.
