2013-14 Season. Sept. 17, Ariel String Quartet with pianist Orion Weiss; Oct. 1, John and Gerald Clayton, the Grammy Award-winning composer and bandleader and his son, a Grammy-nominee pianist and composer; Nov. 12, music From The Palouse (Mozart Program); Jan. 30, The Chiara String Quartet; April 1, eighth blackbird, combines the virtuosity of a string quartet with the energy of a storefront theater company. The three-time Grammy-winning ensemble takes audiences on a funny, surprising, quirky musical road trip. A highlight of their concert is a work they commissioned from Bryce Dessner, the guitarist of the acclaimed rock band The National. Dessner was inspired by the tragic shootings in Aurora and Sandy Hook to compose Murder Ballades, based on “the seductive music and violent stories” of three classic Anglo-American folk songs. Eighth blackbird’s concert, which closes the Auditorium Chamber Music Series season, will also include works by Steve Mackey, Gyorgy Ligeti, and Arcade Fire’s Richard Reed Parry. All shows at 7:30 p.m. Tickets available for individual concert two weeks before each of the concerts at BookPeople in Moscow.
