July 30-31 train rides are sold out, but a July 31 (Sunday) ride at 3 p.m. has been added! Train leaves from Ione Station on Saturdays-Sundays at 11 a.m., 1 and 3 p.m. This 90-minute, 20-mile round trip excursion takes you from Ione to Metaline Falls and back winding along cliffs more than 100 feet above the beautiful Pend Oreille River. Presented by North Pend Oreille Valley Lions Club. The train usually encounters volunteers in “Wild West” period costumes where the train robberies benefit the Cutter Theatre. The train runs July 30-31, Oct. 1-2, Oct. 8-9, 15-16 and 22-23 (only 1 and 3 p.m. on July 30 and 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on July 31 during the Down River Days Festival in Ione ). Costumes encouraged on Oct. 22-23. The train will also be running from Metaline Falls to Ione on Sept. 3-4 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Reservations recommended. Presented by the North Pend Oreille Valley Lions Club. Visit http://www.lionstrainrides.com/.
