April 12-13. The Spokane Symphony honors one of the great German composers - Richard Strauss - with works from the beginning and end of his stellar career. Also Sprach Zarathustra, a tone poem composed early in his career, was used by Stanley Kubrick in “2001: A Space Odyssey”. “His Four Last Songs,” a farewell to a golden era, will be sung by internationally acclaimed soprano Amber Wagner. Eckart Preu, conductor. Saturday at 8 p.m., Sunday at 3 p.m.
