This fifth-annual the all-day, all-night fundraiser is held in honor of six-year-old Hank Sturgis of Sandpoint and others suffering from the rare, fatal disease cystinosis, which affects just 500 people (mainly children) nationwide. Skiers, telemarkers and snowboarders raise pledges and see how many runs they can ski or ride in 24 hours. Participants of all ages and abilities are welcome as solo racers, three-member or four-member teams. New to this year’s event is the “relay team” category, where teams of 2-4 people take turns skiing or boarding. Following the ski event is an auction/awards party featuring more than 100 live and silent auction items, as well as dinner and a costume contest tied to this year’s theme, “The Hills are Alive with the Sound of a Cure.” Auction tickets are $45.
