Premieres of oboe music inspired by Thailand, and brief discussions of how they reflect features in traditional Thai music, will be presented in a free, public concert. The WSU associate professor, will perform pieces that she commissioned to be written by three Thai composers during her time in Thailand as a 2011 Fulbright scholar. With Bethany Schoeff-Cotter, oboe instructor at Eastern Washington University, McCarthy will present the United States premiere of these pieces for two oboes.
