Martin Luther King Jr. Human Rights Community Breakfast

20th annual event sponsored by the Latah County Human Rights Task Force. The event includes a full breakfast, entertainment, a featured speaker, presentation of two Rosa Parks Human Rights Achievement Awards, and presentation of awards to winners of the Martin Luther King Jr. Art and Essay Contest by Mayor Nancy Chaney. The goal of the breakfast is to bring the Moscow community together to affirm the ideals of human rights, justice and equality inspired by the life and writings of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Tickets can be purchased at Paradise Ridge Tapes 117 East 3rd St. An on-line form is available at www.humanrightslatah.org. This year’s featured speaker is Jay Singh, a 3rd year Law student at the University of Washington School of Law. He has been an intern at the Southern Poverty Law Center, a nationally known non-profit organization that combats hate, intolerance, and discrimination. He plans to return to the Center after graduation as a staff attorney. He has worked in the SPLC Atlanta and Montgomery offices and launched an initiative to stop the bullying of Sikh schoolchildren across the South.
