“One Million Bones”

December 2, 2012-December 2, 2012

Thousands of bones will be on display and have been handcrafted by people all over Washington State through the non-profit organization One Million Bones. One Million Bones is a collaborative art installation designed to recognize the millions of victims and survivors who have been killed or displaced by ongoing genocides and humanitarian crisis in Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Somalia and Burma. For each bone made, a dollar is donated by the Bezos Family Foundation to CARE, an organization that directly aids the relief efforts of genocide victims. These bones will be shipped to Washington D.C in April of 2013 where they will be part of a large display in the National Mall. The D.C display will feature bones made by an international community of artists, students and activists.
