Book signing and reading of his book “A New Way to Be Human: 7 Spiritual Pathways to Becoming Fully Alive,” where he shares with readers how he moved from fear into a place of enormous love and impact. He is a South African native, was a conscientious objector to apartheid in the 1970s, and the first openly gay Episcopal dean in the U.S. Along with his spiritual mentor, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, he has been a tireless advocate for marginalized peoples globally and locally, developing facilities for the homeless, the AIDS/HIV community, veterans, underprivileged children and the elderly. Part spiritual guidebook and part remarkable life story, “A New Way of Being Human” is divided into seven chapters of spiritual pathways (“Becoming Fully Alive,” “Risky Invitations,” etc.) with three items of practice at each section’s end to guide the reader’s journey.
