Salmo-Priest Wilderness Overnight Backpack Trip

Hardy hikers will explore amazing old growth forests and enjoy high ridge views while hiking in this roadless area. This is prime habitat for endangered grizzly bears and mountain caribou. The trip begins just below the Canadian border in the ancient cedar grove at Hughes Meadows. Overnight camping on the night of July 13 at Hughes Meadows is encouraged to ensure an early start on the 14th. Distance: 18 mile loop with 3,300 feet elevation change. Difficulty: Most difficult; Age 13 and above recommended
