WIM Railway HGP History Day
Full day of family fun with rides to Princeton kicking off at 9 a.m., and subsequent rides to Princeton at 11 a.m., 1:15 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. Rides to Kennedy Ford are at 10 a.m., noon, 2:15 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. Advance tickets recommended and available at the Potlatch branch of U.S. Bank and Potlatch City Hall. Tickets purchased on day of event for rides are available on a strictly first come, first-served basis. There will also be an evening barbecue, historical exhibits, art, music and a variety of items for sale in the Company Store. The railcar excursions take riders out across area farmlands, crossing small trestle bridges and traveling near the Palouse River. The railcars, also dubbed speeders, were used in the past to take work crews out for rail inspections and repairs. The annual speeder event helps raise funds for ongoing restoration of the Historic WIM Depot in Potlatch. The activities are sponsored by the non-profit owner, WI&M Railway History Preservation Group.
