Senegal
Delores Kagi is a missionary to Senegal and will present colorful, interesting slides and descriptions. Senegal is situated on the west coast of Africa at about equator level. Its capital city, Dakar, juts out into the Atlantic Ocean at the western - most tip—a short ferry ride from the isle of Goreé, an early slave trade center where the captured were auctioned off and then loaded onto waiting ships, never to see their families and loved ones again. Senegal’s population has grown steadily to approx. 900,000. The predominant ethnic group is Wolof, and the official language is French, although it became independent from the French in 1960. Come join us and find out more. A lunch will follow the talk for $7.50 and consist of African Chicken Stew, chopped egg salad, fresh fruit and a five cent cookie (found in the market place of Senegal’s capital Dakar).
