People are influenced by the past. Artists are no different. Composers often incorporate music of the past and make it their own: innovating, modernizing, remixing. All four of the composers do that in very different ways incorporating jazz, romantic and baroque gestures, to adapting original Baroque music. Join us as together we stroll an intriguing series of soundscapes wending our way through Clint Needham’s funky, jazzy, kitschy, and hopefully fun view of suburban life; Anna Clyne’s somber, deeply felt meditation on loss both mournful and filled with life, Within her Arms; then into the realm of the familiar with Avner Dorman’s minimalist take on the baroque; and Stravinsky’s neo classical take on Pergolesi. Part of the Symphony With a Splash series (formerly the Casual Classics). Eckart Preu conductor. Band, Bar and Banter from 5-6:45 p.m.; musical performance from 7-8 p.m.
