Oct. 13-14. A in a special tribute to Gonzaga University’s 125th anniversary year, this stirring presentation of Mahler’s monumental Second Symphony – “Resurrection” – features the Spokane Symphony Chorale, in collaboration with GU. Mahler’s masterpiece will take you on a journey through the human experience, from sorrow to pure joy, and from birth to resurrection. Modeled after Beethoven’s famous Ninth Symphony– the Choral – Mahler’s work is a testament to the triumph of the human soul over this world’s tribulations. And its Choral finale is considered the composer’s most uplifting moment in all his symphonies. Part of the Classics series. Eckart Preu, conductor. Performances Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m.
