18th Annual SFCC Pow Wow

May 15-16. Dancers and drummers from Washington, Montana, Oregon, Idaho and Canada. Friday, 7 p.m.-midnight and Saturday, noon-midnight with grand entry at noon and 7 p.m. at 3 p.m. There will be a Native American graduation ceremony for all graduates in the community, including college, high school and GED graduates in the lobby of the Student Union Building. There will be a break in dancing events at 5 p.m. on Saturday for a feed in the SUB (Bldg. 17), featuring salmon, fry bread and other delicacies. In addition to the dance competitions, arts and crafts booths showcase work by area artists and different businesses. There are multiple dance categories – Men, Women, Teen Boys and Girls, Junior Boys and Girls and even Tiny Tots. Competitors perform a number of different dances including Traditional, Fancy, Jingle and Grass. Randy Bowen is master of ceremonies. Host drum is the Dry Lake from Fort Belknap Reservation and are Assiniboine-Gros Ventre tribal members.
