Spokane –The Spokane Symphony’s Kick Back Classics scheduled for April 25 at the Base Theater on Fairchild Air Force Base has been cancelled due to a visit from the Commander of 18th Air Force, Lieutenant General Mark Ramsay and the completion of exercises. As a substitute for the on-base concert, Global Credit Union is underwriting tickets for active military and families as well as retired military and families to attend the May 5, 8 p.m. or May 6, 3 p.m. Spokane Symphony concerts at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox. Free tickets for that concert may be picked up at the Global Credit Union Office on base, the Fairchild Air Force Base Public Affairs Office or the Spokane Symphony Ticket office, 1001 W. Sprague. Listeners for the May 5 and 6 concert will be spellbound by Strauss’ musical depiction of Miguel de Cervantes’ most revered literary character, Don Quixote de la Mancha. The story, which has enthralled young and old for generations, has even been turned into a musical on the Great White Way. Now, relive the delusional Don’s adventures, from tilting at windmills to the quest for his imaginary lady love, Dulcinea. Called by the San Francisco Chronicle “a cellist of extraordinary technical and musical gifts,””and “a musician of imagination and expressive breadth””by the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, impressive young cellist Joshua Roman joins the Spokane Symphony stage to perform both Tchaikovsky’ s charming Rococo Variations and Don Quixote.
