Fridays’s openings: Gunfire and the nice girl

Dan Webster

It'll be a bit of womanly revenge when Friday arrives at the movie theaters, according to the national release schedule, that is. We can expect only one major opening, which is:

"Miss Bala": Gina Rodriguez ("Jane the Virgin") stars as a young woman who is drawn, against her will, into the border struggle between drug lords and government officials and who must depend on her own abilities to find a way out. Based on the 2011 Mexican film of the same title. Expect gunfire … y muchas balas.

No word yet from the Magic Lantern. As usual, I'll update when the area theaters finalize their bookings.
