Magic Lantern to feature two sides of literature

Dan Webster

And at the Magic Lantern? Spokane's only arts-oriented movie theater is opening two new films:

"Gavagai": So says IMDB.com, "A German businessman travels to Norway to finish the impossible translation of some poems into Chinese, a project of his late wife." Three cultures in one.

"The Bookshop": Emily Mortimer stars as a woman who faces opposition when she opens a bookstore in a small English village. No readers in that place, evidently.

The Lantern plans to open the film "Pick of the Litter" on Sept. 21.
