Your weekly roundup

Rick Bonino

Catching up with more news now that a busy Spokane Craft Beer Week has wrapped up:

– Badass Backyard Brewing today announced that it's opening a "teeny tiny" tasting room in downtown Coeur d'Alene this summer. If all goes well, the Spokane Valley brewery expects to set up shop July 1 in the back room of Coeur d'Alene Fresh, a modern general store that houses an assortment of merchants including coffee roasters, clothiers, candy makers, bakers, jewelers and other artisans.

Badass also is adding Tuesdays from 2 to 9 p.m. to its weekly hours at the Valley taproom, while nearby Twelve String has updated its weekday hours to Monday, 2:30-9 and Tuesday through Thursday, 2 to 9.

No-Li Brewhouse raised $2,500 at last Thursday's Craft Beer Week collaboration festival and matched it with another $2,500 for a $5,000 donation to the Native American community's Salish School of Spokane. That goes toward a security system for the school, which was recently vandalized.

– No-Li also learned over the weekend that it received two medals at this year's Australian International Beer Awards: a silver for Big Juicy IPA, and a bronze for Born & Raised IPA. That brings its medal count in national and international competitions to 23.

– The New England-style Hazy Disposition IPA was the winner of last week's Brewers' Showdown homebrew competition at Bellwether. The winning team of Jim Schulte and Chad Powers will have a full-scale batch of their recipe produced by Bellwether for a planned August release.

And check back tomorrow for our regular weekly preview of local craft beer events (with the calendar shaping up slowly after all of last week's action).
