New Brews debuts

Rick Bonino

Good Brews Radio is back on the air – well, the Interwebs, anyway.

Adam Boyd originated the hourlong weekly show on KYRS-FM in March 2015, but left the station last month because he was too busy with other responsibilities to keep up that schedule.

Now it has returned as a twice-monthly standalone podcast (two hours, for starters) with a couple of co-hosts, Boyd’s brewing buddies Aaron Fernald and Isaac Joslin.

The first episode is up now featuring an interview with Whistle Punk Brewing’s Matt Hanson about his soon-to-open downtown taproom and this year’s Spokane Craft Beer Week (May 15-21), which Hanson organizes.

Boyd, long active in the local film community, also is an assistant brewer at Iron Goat, a freelance beer writer and new president of the Inland Brewers Unite (IBU) homebrew club.

“I do them for the love of them, but at some point … there’s only so much love I can give,” he told listeners during his final radio broadcast on Easter Sunday.

The new format is not only less time-consuming to produce, it also allows for a more freewheeling approach with plenty of banter between the hosts.

A website will be set up for the podcast, but in the meantime you can follow its progress through Good Brews Radio on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. You can offer your opinions about what the show should include at feedback@goodbrewsradio.com.

Meanwhile, KYRS is seeking someone to host a new beer show. If you’re interested in the volunteer position, contact programdirector@kyrs.org.
